Thank you!! Well you don’t have to worry about still not speaking french. Most of us who have the luck to move to Paris for whatever reason there is, don’t really speak it. As a matter of fact I arrived speaking no more than around 10 words and I’ve been taking courses so now I’m intermediare. I know it’s a bit “scary” but you shouldn’t let the language be a reason to not try to do everything to have the experience of living here :)
I had heard about that hate of the french vs. the americans but to be honest I haven’t actually witnessed it. Sure there is some really unwelcome people around here (but don’t worry about it, most of the cases it’s the older people) I don’t doubt there might be some anti-american people around here, but they’re certainly not a majority.
And even though it’s true that there’s a few people who have no patience for those of us who are still struggling with the language, my best advice is to not take it personally. It’s something cultural I think, and it’s just part of the whole parisian experience.
Just sign up for a french course, and come for a few weeks/months! try your best learning, try to practice as much without being afraid of making a mistake {don’t worry most of them will still make a weird face when they hear you}, make friends at your classes and pretty much take advantage of this gorgeous city, cause no matter how many disappointments you may have… you are still one of those lucky people who can live an experience like this :)
